Rifin


1.      Rífín[1]: to have a contempt for, to hold in contempt

a.       Àwọn ọmọ náà wọn fín.
The children held them in contempt.
b.      Ṣolá òòṣà fín. (Ṣọlá kórira òòṣà)
Ṣọlá has contempt for idol.
2.      Rígbà: to receive, to obtain
a.       Ó i gbà.
He was able to receive it.
b.      Ó àánú gbà.
He obtained mercy (Ó rí àánú gbà)
3.      Ríhe: to find, to find and pick up what is lost.
a.Ó rí owó náà he.
       He found and picked up the money that was lost.
c.       Ó rí ọlá he.
He found wealth.
4.      Ríjẹ: well-off, well-to-do, rich
a.       Ó ríjẹ.
He is rich.
b.      Kọ́lá ríjẹ.
Kọ́lá is well-off
c.       Bádé ríjẹ.
Bádé is well-to-do.
5.      Rín, Rẹ́rìn-ín: to laugh
a.       Bádé rẹ́rìn-ín
Bádé laughed.
6.      Rìkísí: conspiracy, plot, intrigue
a.       Wọ́n ń di rìkísí mọ́ ọn.
They are plotting against him.
b.      Wọ́n di rìkísí mọ́ ọn.
They conspired against him
c.       Rìkísí ni ohun tí Bọ́lá ń lé pa
Intrigue is what Bọ́lá is up to.
7.      Rin: damp, moist, humid
a.       Yàrá yìí ń rin
This room is damp
b.      Ilẹ̀ ń rin.
The floor is moist
8.      Rìn: to tickle, to walk, to travel
a.       Ó rìn lọ sí ilé.
He walked home.
b.      I tickled him.
Mo rìn ín ní jàkì/Mo rìn ín ní ìgàkín.
c.       Ṣọlá rìnrìn àjò.
Ṣọlá travelled.
9.      Rin: to grate (cassava), to squeeze against
a.       Wọ́n rin ẹ̀gẹ́
They grated cassava.
b.      Wọ́n rin ín mọ́ ẹ̀yin ọkọ̀.
They squeezed her against the back of the car.
10.  Rìngbẹ̀rẹ́: to walk slowly or lazily
a.       Ó ń rìn gbẹ̀rẹ́.
He is walking slowly
b.      Ó ń rìn gbẹ̀rẹ́.
He is walking lazily.
11.  Ringbindin: to soak, to be very wet
a.       Ó rin gbindin.
It is very wet.
b.      Fóòmù náà rin gbindin.
The foam is soaked.
12.  Rìn hẹ́bẹ́hẹ́bẹ́: to waddle, to walk like the duck
a.       Ó ń rìn hẹ́bẹ́hẹ́bé.
He is walking like a duck.
b.      Kóyè rìn hẹ́béhẹ́bé kọjá omi náà.
Kóyè waddled across the water.
13.  Rìnká, Rìn káàkiri: to stroll about, to roam about, to walk about
a.       Wọ́n ń rìnká.
They are walking about.
b.      Wọ́n rìn káàkiri.
They roamed about.
c.       Wọ́n rìn yíká àdúgbò.
They strolled about the street.
14.  Rìn kiri: to rove about, to wander about
a.       Ó ń rìn kiri.
He is wandering about.
b.      Ó ń rìn kiri bíi aláìnílé.
He is roving about like a homeless person.
15.  Rìn lẹ́dọ̀: to nauseate
a.       Òórùn ẹran náà ń rì mí lẹ́dọ̀.
The smell of the meat nauseates me.
16.  Rìn lọ, Rìn wò, Rìn yíka: to go round the boundaries of
a.       Ó rìn yíká oko rẹ̀.
He went round the boundaries of his farm.
17.  Rinrin: Very Heavy (qualifying wúwo)
a.       Òkúta náà wúwo rinrin
The stone is very heavy.
18.  Rírà: Purchasable, buying
a.       Iṣẹ́ ìwé rírà àti títà ni ó ń ṣe.
He is buying and selling books.
b.      Rírà ní owó ńlá ni aṣọ náà jẹ́.
The clothes are purchasable with a high price.
19.  Rírà: Putrid, rotten
a.       Ẹ̀fọ́ rírà ni ó rà.
She bought rotten vegetables.
b.      Òórùn-un rírà ló ní.
It has a putrid smell.
20.  Ríìran: to see
a.       Mo ríìran.
I saw a revelation.
