Attraction


1.                  Attraction – Ìfàmọ́ra[1] (Adjective)

(a)                Fífèràn èyàn dé ibi pé kí nǹkan pa wọ́n pọ̀

e.g. Olú fë fa Ṣadé mọ́ra (Olu wants to attract Sade)

(b)               Ibi tí àwọn èyàn fëràn láti lọ

e.g Èkó jẹ́ ibi tí ó fani mọ́ra (Lagos is an attractive place)

(c)                Nǹkan tí ó jẹ́ kí ènìyàn ní ìfẹ́ sí nǹkan kan

e.g. Ìwà ìrẹ̀lẹ rè fani mọ́ra (His gentle manners attracts one)

2.                  Authority – Ipò àṣẹ (Adverb)

(a)                Ní àṣẹ láti darí àwọn ènìyàn

e.g. Àwọn ọba ní àṣẹ láti darí àwọn ènìyàn wọn (Kings have the authority to order their people)

(b)               Fífún láyè láti ṣe nǹkan

e.g. Bàbá mí fún mi láyè láti darí ẹgbẹ́ náà fún òun (My father gave me the authority to lead the group on his behalf)

3.                  Awake – Ṣe àìsùn (Verb)

(a)                Àìsùn

e.g. N kò sùn (I am awake)

(b)               Kí ìmọ̀lára èèyàn ta jí

e.g. Nígbàkúùgbà tí mobá ti rí i, ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀é ara mi máa ń jí pépé (Whenever I see her, my lust is awakened)

4.                  Drain – Ìmúgbẹ (Noun/Verb)

(a)                Láti jẹ́ kí nǹkan gbẹ nípa jíjẹ́ ki gbogbo omi ara rẹ̀ kúrò

e.g. Mo ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ jẹ́ kí gbogbo omi ara ìrẹsì náà ro tán ni (I have just drained the water from the rice)

(b)               Láti jë kí omi sàn kúrò lára nǹkan

e.g. Omi inú síǹkì náà ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ sàn kọjá tán ni (The water just got drained from the sink)

5.                  Dress – Aṣọ (Noun)

Aṣọ Títí ti kéré jù fún un (Titi’s dress is too short)

e.Dókítà náà wẹ egbò rẹ̀ (The doctor dressed his wound)

(a)                Láti ṣètò nǹkan

e.g. Ó dára láti ṣètò ilé rẹ ní ẹ̀ẹ̀kọ̀ọ̀kan (It is good to dress your house once in a while)

6.                  Drink – mu (verb)

(a)                Mu nǹkan

e.g. Mo máa n mu omi jù (I drink water a lot)


7.                  Driving – wakọ̀ (Verb)

(a)                Bí èyàn ṣe ń wa ọkọ̀

e.g. Ẹ̀gbọ́n mi máa ń sáré tó bá ti ń wa ọkọ̀ (My brother likes driving really fast)

(b)               Dídarí nǹkan

e.g. Òun ni ó ń darí àpérò ìpàdé náà (He is driving the discussion of the meeting)

8.                  Drop – já bọ́ (Verb)

(a)                Kí nǹkan já bọ́

e.g. Ife náà ṣèèsì já bọ́ ní ọwọ́ mi (I dropped the cup by mistake)

(b)               Subú lójijì

e.g. Ó subú lójijì tori pé ó ti rẹ̀ ẹ́ jù (She dropped suddenly due to stress)

(c)                Tutù, wálẹ̀

e.g. Ojú ọjọ́ déédé tutu ní ìtà (The weather just dropped outside)

(d)               Bọ́ sílẹ̀

e.g. Ọkọ̀ náà dúró láti jẹ́ kí ó bọ́ sílẹ̀ ní iwájú ilé rẹ̀ (The vehicle stopped to drop him in front of his house)
